The Afterlife art exhibition is currently on display at the Birmingham Museum of art. The exhibition is a collection of Asian art gathered over the years by Henry and June Weldon. The Weldon’s collection of art sculptures and ceramics from various locations across Asia reflects past fashion trends, entertainment, status symbols, and religions. The exhibition is comprised of 80 plus works from thousands of years of Asian culture. Ancient Asia cultures believed spirits should have the luxuries and comforts individuals may have had while living. Therefore, much of the Weldon’s collection was created to be carried with the dead to the “Afterlife”.
